Emergency Server Migration
[This email is being sent to customers who utilize Secure5.liveoakhosting.com for web and/or email services.]
We are writing to notify you that your web and/or email server, Secure5, is in need of an immediate migration. This transition was on our radar for later this year, but due to some issues beyond our control, we have had to expedite this schedule in a major way. This email is to notify you of the potential impact you may experience during the transition.
When Will It Happen?
The migration will begin on Friday, July 30th and will happen in waves. You will be notified before your service is migrated to a newer and much more robust server. We will contact you again as soon as the transition is complete so that you can validate that the migration was successful. If the timing of this migration is not possible for your business, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can try to adjust the migration schedule to be more accommodating.
What Should I Expect?
During the migration, no major impact should be experienced. Your email will be routed to a new server where all of the mailboxes will be ready and waiting to receive email. If any email is routed to the old server after the migration, there are methods to retrieve it. Your web traffic will be migrated at the same time (unless your website is hosted elsewhere, in which case there will be no impact).
Because we are moving from a server that is running an older version of PHP and MySQL (which is used by many of our customers, but not all), your website may be impacted by the move to a server running the most recent and stable versions of PHP and MySQL. If you believe that this will impact you, please contact us and let us know. We have reviewed all of the websites on this server and have contacted those companies that we believe may be at risk, however we cannot be completely sure with our assessment. Again, if you are unsure, please let us know.
What If There Are Problems?
We will be standing by to address any issues that arise. If programming changes are necessary, we have a trusted partner that you can contract with to perform any code changes. They are familiar with the transition and are standing by to assist. Any issues related to email flow or connection settings will be handled by our team as usual. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
What Next?
You will be contacted via email and/or telephone regarding your migration. You can follow the status updates by visiting our Help site to receive emails or text messages with each update.
